Sand Harbor Portraits | Locations by Lake Tahoe Photographer

Sand Harbor is a gorgeous location for family portraits, or portraits of any kind in our greater Northern Nevada and Northern California area. It is one of my favorite locations for portraits for many reasons. First of all, Sand Harbor is along the shore of the always stunning Lake Tahoe. Secondly, the light is amazing on the Northeastern side of the lake, right where Sand Harbor is located. I’ve photographed Sand Harbor portraits (including engagement and maternity portraits) at different parts of the year, and it’s always beautiful. Sand Harbor also has a huge variety of sandy areas, tons of rocks and crystal clear aqua water in every which direction. As a result, Sand Harbor provides the most amazing backdrops you could ask for in Lake Tahoe.

Sand Harbor is a Nevada State Park, and requires a $12 entrance fee, so please bring cash with you! They do not allow dogs, so this is not an ideal choice for family portraits that include pets. The Sand Harbor State Park’s hours change throughout the seasons, so this may not always be an option for your portrait location depending on the time of the year. We also may have to shoot your Sand Harbor portraits earlier in the day than I would normally aim for, due to their schedule. Restrictions aside, Sand Harbor is one of the hands-down most beautiful locations for portraits in the Lake Tahoe area! Contact me today if you’d like more information on Sand Harbor portraits!
