About

Hello!

I’m Jentry. I’ve been a Reno High School Senior Photographer for over 16 years.

Photographing high school seniors is my passion & helping teens embrace their own confidence is my purpose. I truly adore capturing the memories of this incredible milestone for the seniors and their families that I work with.

I wholeheartedly believe that displaying portraits in your home is one of the best ways to share who you are and what’s important to you. There have even been studies that show a correlation between displaying children’s portraits on the wall and their self-esteem.

Isn’t that amazing and eye-opening?!

WHAT’S A FIFTH & CHESTNUT SENIOR SESSION LIKE?

A senior photo session with me is about more than just getting a great photo of you smiling at the camera (although yes, we will get that)! When a senior is in front of my lens, it’s a total celebration of this transformative time as you step into adulthood and get ready to embark on your next adventure.

I’ll never leave you worried about how to pose or what to do during our photoshoot. I will guide you throughout our time together with natural, effective posing prompts and movements to elicit genuine expressions within meaningful moments.

You will be having a great time during your session, leaning-in to your own internal confidence, which will grow and flourish in front of my lens & creative eye!

CAPTURING AUTHENTIC MEMORIES

With an editorial approach, I produce heartfelt images that feel true to the spirit and personality of the seniors I am honored to photograph. My photography style is luminous, vibrant, natural and most importantly – timeless.

I am dedicated to crafting the imagery of your unique story with AUTHENTICITY – and I capture the incredibly important milestone of senior year with the adoration it deserves.

Senior portraits are MORE than just pictures. They are an expression of WHO you are in this moment, and a way for parents to remember it as a chapter raising their child in their home comes to an end.

This moment is absolutely worth reliving through tangible prints (rather than getting lost in the social media void) and I’ll actually walk you through how to display and treasure ALL of these incredible moments because I never want to leave you on your own to figure that out – especially with how busy you are during senior year!

I’M A MOM, NATURE LOVER & ARTIST AT HEART

I married my husband, Matt, in 2011 and became a stepmom to my stepson, Ben, who is now an adult (ahhh)! I had my first son, Cooper, 3 years later and my fraternal twins, Indiana and Oliver, 3 years after that.

My family is my foundation and my motivation.

We live in Sparks and have two dogs and a few backyard chickens. I love gardening and taking care of our little urban homestead. Fresh eggs are one of life’s most simple pleasures if you ask me! If we had more land, I’d definitely have a herd of mini donkeys.

When I’m not taking care of kids, animals or plants, I love to draw and illustrate. One of my dreams outside of being a Senior Photographer is to illustrate and write a children’s book. Snowboarding, hiking, camping and chai lattes are all things that also fill my cup!

The wild outdoors is my happy place.

I love traveling in our trailer and camping overnight wherever we can. One of my favorite camping trips to date was a 6 day excursion to Lamoille Canyon in the fall. It’s one of the most magical places I’ve ever been.

We went on hikes every day and explored the beautiful fall scenery. We also biked around the campground and made the most delicious meals while we were there.

Nevada is so much more beautiful than most give it credit for. I love exploring all of our Nevada landscapes, from the high desert to the shores of Lake Tahoe.

Catch me in my garden!

Like many other people during the pandemic, I started a garden to keep me and my family busy – and then it turned into an obsession that is STILL going strong!

I absolutely love my veggie gardens, plus the multitude of other areas around my backyard where I grow things like blueberries, herbs, corn and sunflowers!

I often water and tend to my garden after photoshoots and it’s very calming and soothing for me to nurture plant life.

I also have a cute flock of backyard chickens that we enjoy taking care of. Fresh eggs are AMAZING!

I was almost a marine biologist?!

Growing up in the Bay Area of California, I had the immense privilege of exploring the Pacific Ocean often.

After just one trip to the sea with my elementary school class (collecting plankton from a boat), I wanted to be a Marine Biologist. And although I will always have a passion for learning about the ocean and its creatures, I am not scientifically-minded…so language arts was more my forte! That’s why I ended up pursuing my Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism (Advertising Sequence) at UNR.

However, my family and I take any opportunity to visit the ocean and explore its incredible beauty and mystery. We have a special camping spot near Santa Cruz that we love to visit as often as possible. And we always explore the tide pools when we do!

My kids are huge fans of finding sea life on the shores, and visiting aquariums, too!

I love working with teens so much!

I’m a professional Reno/Tahoe senior photographer with over 16 years of experience who LOVES to photograph seniors because I have a calling, as a creative artist who is also a parent, to empower youth to seek the confidence within themselves in an age where the comparison game and self-confidence is at an all-time low.

I believe every senior deserves to have an adventurous and memorable photography experience that builds their self-confidence, brings out their unique personality and provides them with an opportunity (through my artistic and editorial portraits) to love, accept and be proud of who they are – and share that with the world.

I want every senior who steps in front of my lens to walk away feeling like I truly captured the essence of their authentic self. I also don’t want any single senior’s photos to be exactly like anyone else’s – I want your portraits to be a unique and creative celebration of YOU.

Family is everything to me.

My husband, Matt, and I have three young children at home, and an adult son who is now off doing his own thing.

We LOVE spending time outdoors. Some of our favorite activities are rock climbing as a family, camping, traveling to beautiful natural wonders and open spaces, and hanging out in our backyard enjoying our garden and patio under our string lights.

One of our favorite places to spend our summer days is the Mt. Rose Meadows or the beaches of Lake Tahoe. In winter, you’ll find us skiing, snowshoeing or watching movies on the couch with hot chocolate in hand.

My family is so important to me and I love having adventures with them <3

I’m located in the heart of Downtown Reno.

I’ve had a couple of “homes” for my photography business over the years, but I am extremely proud to say that in October of 2023, I moved into the most beautiful studio space of my dreams in Downtown Reno. I have space here to edit, do individual photoshoots and meet my clients for their Image Premieres. I absolutely LOVE walking into my 1928 building & getting to work!

One thing I especially love about my studio is the two large windows that let in tons of natural light during the day. As a professional light seeker, I find myself wonderfully inspired by the light that floods my studio!

I love the desert.

From afar, the vast “barren” landscapes that surround us in Northern Nevada may not look like too much. But personally, when I get up close, that’s when I see the intricacies that fascinate me about the desert. There are so many beautiful plants, flowers, and animals that add to the goregous geology of our area. I find myself very drawn to these stunning and mysterious landscapes.

One of my fave desert spots nearby is Moon Rocks. It’s like an alien landscape and I find it so interesting! We also launch model rockets out there for my youngest son, who is obsessed with space.

I’m a chicken mama!

I ADORE my backyard flock of chickens. It’s a great way to get my kids involved in helping take care of our home together, and chickens are just SUPER fun.

We recently got some baby chicks to add to our flock, and we are enjoying cuddling with them to ensure they are friendly with us.

We collect a variety of colorful eggs and they are truly delicious.

Why does capturing senior year matter so much to me?

As a mom of four — including a 20-year-old stepson, a 10-year-old, and two 7-year-olds — I know firsthand just how quickly time slips through our fingers. This photo her? It was taken just a few years ago, and it’s the last time I was able to get my now-grown stepson in front of the camera while he was still in high school.

I’ve felt the bittersweet pride of watching a teen step into adulthood and leave home. I’ve experienced the whirlwind of busy seasons with little ones, and the ache of seeing a chapter close. These real-life moments fuel the heart behind my work.

When I photograph your senior, I’m not just capturing how they look right now — I’m preserving a moment that will never come again. I bring my own experience as a mom into every session, infusing it with care, intention, and deep understanding. I know how important this milestone is for your family because I’ve lived it.

We’re a ski fam!

Every winter, as soon as the snow starts falling in the Sierra, my family and I are itching to hit the slopes. Snowboarding and skiing has become one of our favorite traditions — something we look forward to every season. It’s not just about the thrill (though we love that too) — it’s about the shared laughs on the lifts, the hot cocoa breaks, and the memories we’re building with every ride down the mountain.

These experiences — the simple joy of being together, unplugged and present — are what I hold close as a mom. And they remind me why preserving moments matters so much.

It’s this same appreciation for fleeting seasons that I bring into every senior session I photograph. I know that these are the times you’ll want to remember forever.
