Snowy Galena Creek Reno Portraits by Reno Family Photographer
When Lisa, one of Diane & Clay’s five children, asked me if I would be willing to photograph some Reno portraits of their family before Christmas, I was so excited!! I really adore doing portraits when families are coming together from afar, and the fact that Lisa wanted to provide this as a gift to her amazing parents is absolutely incredible in my book.
In anticipation of our photo shoot, I looked at the weather forecast a few days beforehand and started to worry we might be in for a snow storm. Because I have my studio to use, we at least had a backup plan.
A Snowy Day Shoot!
The day of the session, we were all keeping an eye on the weather and it was definitely snowing around town. Diane told me there should be a break around the time our session starts, so we opted to keep our location planned for Galena Creek Park – a place that Diane and Clay love!
As we started our session in the snow covered winter wonderland, it actually wasn’t snowing for about 15 minutes. But when it did start to snow, this family didn’t even bat an eye. We kept shooting and I’m very happy we continued with our outdoor session even though the weather was a little iffy. Luckily this family has mostly older kids (and a brand new baby who was only out to take a couple pics and then went back into the cozy car), so the kids played while I subjected the adults to standing still in a snow storm!
I had a lot of fun with these guys – it was the perfect end to my busiest holiday portrait season, EVER, the day before Christmas Eve. Check out just a sampling of my favorites below!
