Free Spirited Boho Styled Senior Photoshoot in Scottsdale, AZ by Reno Senior Photographer
At the end of January, I had the incredible opportunity to travel to Scottsdale, AZ, for the Inner Circle Retreat complete with a boho styled senior photoshoot. This amazing event was hosted & planned by Sean Brown of Senior Photo Education. The four-day retreat was an immersive experience filled with coaching and hands-on implementation. My primary goal? To strengthen client connections, improve every aspect of my photography process & renew my vision for my business. However, one of the most exciting parts of the trip was a breathtaking senior photoshoot in the stunning southwest desert landscape!
A Dreamy Boho Photoshoot in the Arizona Desert
Alongside Sean and eight other talented senior photographers from across the country, I had the privilege of photographing seven gorgeous models. They were dressed in dreamy boho outfits—some even styled in Free People! The setting was absolutely magical. Surrounded by towering saguaros, jumping cholla, and diverse desert flora, the location created a stunning, one-of-a-kind backdrop.
We shot during the golden hours of the evening, right up until sunset. The warm desert sun bathed our photos in rich, golden backlighting. Every shot glowed with vibrant light, bringing the images to life. Truly, it was a photographer’s paradise!
Navigating the Desert Terrain (and Dodging the Jumping Cholla!)
Although the landscape was breathtaking, it had its challenges—especially the infamous jumping cholla! Several photographers got pricked by these sneaky cacti. Somehow, I managed to avoid them, but it was a good reminder to watch my step! Despite this minor obstacle, the shoot was an absolute blast. The environment added adventure and excitement to the experience.
Working with Incredible Models & Capturing Their Unique Beauty
One of the most rewarding aspects of this session was working closely with each model. Each senior model brought their own personality, confidence, and style, making every set of images unique. Additionally, we captured fun group shots, highlighting friendship and connection. These group images added even more variety to the final collection.
A Retreat That Transformed My Business
While the styled shoot was unforgettable, the Inner Circle Retreat itself was truly transformative. The four days of coaching, strategy, and hands-on implementation helped me refine my client experience. Now, I feel even more prepared to ensure every senior feels valued, heard, and excited about their portraits.
From deepening client connections to perfecting the smallest details, I left Arizona with a renewed passion for photography. Most importantly, I gained fresh insights into what I love most—creating unforgettable experiences and portraits for my clients.
Final Thoughts
This styled senior session was a highlight of my time in Arizona. The combination of stunning scenery, talented models, and an inspiring group of photographers made for an invaluable experience.
Now, I can’t wait to bring everything I learned back home! My goal is to elevate my photography and create even more meaningful portraits for my amazing clients.
