Five Prom Portrait Poses you Can’t Go Wrong With | Reno Prom Portraits
Something I was asked recently (when trying to get a headcount for prom minis) was: How should I pose for prom portraits? I know this can be a concern – especially when you’re starting to get ready to go to your first prom! Don’t worry, though – I’m here to go over FIVE prom portrait poses you can’t go wrong with!
Standing forward with hand on hip
This is a class prom portrait pose. With the subject turned slightly, they place one hand on their hip, and the other hand can twirl hair or jewelry! Classic and flattering!
Clasping Wrists
With the subject’s torso again slighting turned away from the camera, she clasps her wrist with her other hand. Easy!
Leaning on hand / chin on hand
While in a sitting pose, the client can rest her chin or cheek slightly on her hand. But here’s the special secret sauce: rather than rest on your knuckles (with them facing forward), tilt your wrist toward or away from the camera and rest LIGHTLY on the edge of your pinky or pointer finger. Classy and beautiful!
Leaning on wrist, shoulder forward
While sitting, the subject can lean back into her shoulder, resting on her wrist. This is a great, casual prom portrait pose! You want to be careful when sitting, however, and make sure your dress won’t get snagged on anything!
Touching Face / Playing with Jewelry with elbows together
This pose is very sweet and showcases a junior or senior’s personality so well. It’s a lot of fun and when I ask my clients to touch their face, they usually let out a genuine laugh, which makes for an excellent prom portrait!
These are just five amazing prom portrait poses you can rely on when taking your prom pictures! And hey, are you interested in PROFESSIONAL prom portraits like these ones?
