Earthy Tahoe Portraits with Rowan in Fall | Reno Senior Photographer

March 25, 2026 in Senior Portraits

I was so lucky to capture Rowan’s earthy senior portraits in a setting that felt deeply personal and beautifully true to her. From the beginning, this session felt special because we started at a secluded spot that holds so many memories for Rowan and her mom, Erika. It is a place they have spent a lot of time together. That personal connection made the whole evening feel even more meaningful.

First, we began among the pines, boulders, and golden fall grass, where Rowan’s first look brought such a fun, relaxed energy to the session. Her denim overalls paired with a soft cream top felt playful and effortless. They fit the forest setting so well. The light filtering through the trees gave everything a warm glow, and Rowan looked completely at home. One of my favorite parts of these first moments was seeing how comfortable she was in a place that already meant so much to her.

Paths, Meadows and Forest Vibes

As we moved through the location, we took advantage of every beautiful pocket of scenery! The wooden path, the open meadow, and the rocky forest backdrop all gave us a slightly different feel while still keeping a natural style that tied the whole session together. There was so much variety, yet everything still feels cohesive and timeless.

Rowan also brought along her sweet boyfriend, and he was such a fun part of the session. He helped out so much throughout the shoot, which always makes the experience smoother and more relaxed. Of course, it was also so cute to photograph the two of them together. Their photos felt natural and easy! Those images added another layer of personality to the session and helped tell the story of this season in Rowan’s life.

Pups for added fun!

Another highlight was meeting Rowan’s two doggies – who brought their own energy to the day. They were the perfect mix of wild and reserved, which made things entertaining in the best way. Including pets in senior portraits always adds such a personal touch.

These photos felt especially meaningful because they reflect the people and puppies Rowan loves most. Between the laughter, the little unpredictable moments, and the sweet snuggles, they made this part of the session unforgettable. To sum it up, you can’t go wrong showcasing the love for your pets!

A flowy green dress along the creek

Finishing this part of the evening, Rowan changed into an olive green dress that could not have been more perfect for the setting. The color blended so beautifully with the creek, the stones, and the soft autumn tones around her. It gave the final images there such a peaceful feel and was easily one of my favorite outfit choices from the whole session.

There was something so calm and reflective about that part of the evening. Rowan standing barefoot on the rocks with water flowing around her created such a stunning contrast between strength and softness.

An Epic Sunset for these Earthy Tahoe Senior Portraits

After that, we headed to Lake Tahoe for the second half of her senior portraits. It was the perfect way to end the day. The shoreline gave us another gorgeous backdrop, with soft sunset light, calm water, and even more fall color nearby. I was so grateful for the beautiful weather, especially the calm winds, because it made the lake feel extra peaceful. Rowan kept on her green dress, which looked just as stunning at the water’s edge as it did by the creek. The soft movement of the dress, the pastel sunset tones, and the glassy lake all came together in such a dreamy way.

All in all, these gorgeous and earthy Tahoe senior portraits truly felt like the best blend of personal, playful and beautiful. From meaningful family memories in the forest to the soft sunset along the shoreline, every part of Rowan’s session reflected who she is in such a genuine way. I loved getting to document this season for her!

Without a doubt, this was one of my fave sessions this year! Rowan and Erika, thank you so much for choosing me for this special session. I am so grateful I got to spend this beautiful day with you both and capture so many moments that felt personal and full of heart.

Are you presently planning your own senior session and dreaming of something natural, meaningful, and full of beautiful scenery? I would love to help bring it to life. Reach out on my contact page.
