Boy, do I have an incredible shoot to share with you today! Stacey Park-Li from Aster and Ash and I met for tea at Hub Coffee Roasters on Riverside a while back and started sharing ideas for a styled shoot because we were aching to stretch our creative muscles. We put our heads together over some chai lattes and drew out plans for an ivory and dusty blue country french wedding inspiration styled shoot.
We were originally set to shoot at my own wedding venue in Grass Valley, CA – but when our date lined up with someone’s real wedding (although I was given permission to shoot there earlier in the day), I didn’t want to intrude on someone’s actual best day of their life. So we frantically started searching for a new venue. That’s when Sommer, from Pretty Little Paper Company, hooked us up with this private estate in Reno. She sent me the Zillow listing for the house and my jaw literally dropped to the floor. This…is…in Reno? Heck yeah it is!! And I got to shoot there and I feel like had I known about this spot, it would have been on my bucket list. So, I added it to my list and scratched it off because I like scratching things off lists.
Needless to say, I was completely in heaven the entire time we were on this Reno property. From the moment I drove up to the last second my feet were on this magnificent spot of earth, I was in an utter state of joy.
Details on our Country French inspired wedding shoot:
Cream and soft blush florals by Aster and Ash with long curls of greenery are at the heart of this dusty blue country french wedding styled shoot. Pretty Little Paper Company and Calligraphy by CC collaborated to provide soft linen invitations, escort cards & table setting paperie. The Entertainer provided vintage rentals, soft linens, mismatched gold-edged plates, gold flatware, glassware and other decor, while La Di Da Beauty artists Rosa Mercedes and Laura Garcia worked their magic on our beautiful model, Deidre. Deidre wore a lovely gown by Pronovias from Deja Vu Bridal while her groom, Nick, was dressed in groomswear from Express (my fave place for men’s separates). The icing on the cake is quite literally our gorgeous ombre watercolor wedding cake by Ganache Fine Cakes.
After decorating the vintage table and getting Deidre into her beautiful Pronovias wedding gown, we ventured around this to-die-for property, soaking up the golden pre-sunset light as long as we could. I especially adore the front porch, with it’s black painted door and cherry trees which were in full blossom. But let’s be honest, this place was a DREAM. Like my GOD I could shoot here forever and ever.
If I ever acquire a couple mil, I’m buying a place like this and hosting weddings. Just FYI.
Fun facts about our dusty blue country french inspired wedding shoot:
- The chairs at the table are actually from my farmhouse dining table at my house – my husband and I cleaned, sanded and painted those bad boys a long time ago. Little did I know that I would one day bring them all the way out to a private estate in Reno for a little ol’ styled shoot.
- That dusty blue armchair is also mine and resides in my photo studio 🙂
- Deidre and Nick are a real-life engaged couple and were SO much fun to photograph. I love their silliness and sweetness together.
- Stacey, from Aster and Ash, and I first became acquainted through one of my best friends, Kirsten Slavin – who used to be my 2nd shooter for weddings. Love ya, lady!
- The people present at the shoot will always have some fun and kinda scary memories of this evening – LOL – sorry, it’s a secret.
Below are my top images (and a sweet little video – make sure to watch it in HD quality) from my time at this private estate photographing our adorable couple all the amazing blush, linen and dusty blue country french details.
