Fashion Forward Senior Photos at the Senior Style Guide CEO Retreat

April 10, 2026 in Styled Shoots

I adore the fashion forward senior photos I created at the Senior Style Guide CEO Retreat and Shootout I attended at the end of February. And the energy was INCREDIBLE. It was such an immersive educational and creative experience, and I left feeling inspired, stretched, and so excited to bring fresh ideas into my own work. I was especially happy to see my friends, Jamie and Amanda. At the same time, I loved meeting new photographers and making wonderful new friends along the way.

From the very beginning, this retreat felt like a gift. The leaders, Carissa, Lacey, and Vickie, shared so much knowledge and real experience. Because of that, every part of the retreat felt thoughtful and encouraging. There was room to learn, create, and try something new. That is always the kind of environment that sparks the best kind of growth.

A creative start with bold studio style

We began with looks that instantly pushed me outside my usual comfort zone in the best way. One of the first portraits featured a senior guy styled in soft layers with a striped jacket, textured knit, and a scarf at the neck. The set felt editorial and clean, yet still approachable. I loved the soft neutral tones, the curled hair, and the dreamy foreground flare. Altogether, it created a portrait that felt modern, polished, and full of personality.

Then the energy shifted into bright color. Arie leaned dramatically against a split yellow and orange wall in a bold retro-inspired look. Her long orange skirt, patterned halter top, and platform shoes made the whole image feel playful and high fashion. Right away, it reminded me how much fun fashion forward senior photos can be when color becomes part of the storytelling.

Another studio setup brought a different mood with a cool blue backdrop and confident poses. The striped top, flared jeans, yellow boots, and scarf gave the whole image a fun throwback feel. It was such a great reminder that wardrobe and body language work together to create images that feel memorable.

In one final studio look, the styling became even more expressive. One set featured a black-and-white polka dot outfit paired with bold earrings and dramatic light across the wall. I loved how the shadows added shape and interest without taking away from the subject. Instead, they pulled everything together and made the frame feel chic and intentional.

Outdoor fashion with personality

Later, we moved into more stylized outdoor looks, and this is where the variety of the retreat really shined.

The first look felt soft and ethereal. The flowing white dress with silver detail, layered jewelry, and lush greenery created a dreamy editorial vibe. It was elegant, but it still felt youthful. That balance can be hard to achieve, so this look really stood out to me. The rich green background made the dress glow even more, which gave the final portrait such a beautiful contrast.

One senior wore a bright blue coat over a soft blue outfit with matching platform shoes and tall socks. The urban setting and powerful poses gave the image a fashion-magazine feel, while the oversized bow added a playful touch. It was bold, fresh, and so fun.

Another model wore a fringe vest, graphic tee, jeans, and turquoise jewelry in a desert-inspired setting with cactus all around her. This look had a more laid-back edge, but it still felt incredibly styled. I loved how the warm tones in her outfit worked with her hair and the natural texture of the location. It felt cool, confident, and a little bit unexpected.

Then there was a romantic blue gown styled with gloves and a flower-filled basket under blooming trees. This look felt straight out of a storybook. Even so, it still fit beautifully within the overall retreat because it showed how fashion forward senior photos do not always have to feel edgy. Sometimes they can be soft, whimsical, and still completely creative.

A fun city feel and bold finishing looks

As the sessions continued, the wardrobe kept getting more adventurous. One model wore a colorful fringe jacket with denim and a beaded top while posing in a city park with palm trees and buildings behind her. Her images felt joyful and full of movement. Her smile brought so much life to the frames, and the outfit made it impossible not to notice her.

Another look featured a navy floral dress with layered ruffles, white boots, and a palm-lined city backdrop. I loved how the dress added motion and shape while the location kept the portrait grounded. It felt stylish, feminine, and a little dramatic in the best way.

We also photographed a striking black outfit with rich gold embellishment, a wide-brim hat, and reflective sunglasses. This one felt bold and polished right away. The details were everything. The fringe, the jewelry, and the confident smiles all worked together to create portraits that felt strong and fun.

Finally, one of the most playful looks included a black leather set with white stars, pink boots, statement earrings, and a bright pink bag. The checkerboard floor made the images even more dynamic. This look was energetic, fearless, and full of personality.

These photos are a perfect example of how this retreat encouraged all of us to dream bigger creatively.

Working with wonderful people

Of course, the photos were only a small part of what made this experience so meaningful. I was so glad to share the retreat with Jamie and Amanda, and I truly loved getting to know other photographers throughout the event. By the last day, it felt like such a warm and encouraging space.

My shootout partner that afternoon was Alicia, and she was so sweet. I absolutely loved working with her for a full afternoon. It is always special when you get paired with someone who is kind, collaborative, and excited to create together. That made the final day even more memorable.

Why this retreat inspired me

What I loved most about this retreat was how much it stretched my creativity. These images are fun, fashion-forward, and definitely a little outside the norm for me. However, that is exactly why they were so valuable. They reminded me that trying new things is often where the magic happens. They also reminded me that senior sessions can hold so much style, personality, and artistic freedom.

This retreat was truly such a treat. I am so grateful for the education, the encouragement, the friendships, and the creative spark that came from it. Experiences like this help me grow not only as a photographer, but also as an artist.
