Cooper’s 18 Month Portraits | Reno Child Photographer
My own baby goose turned 18 months old in May. For his 18 month portraits, I took an extra laid back approach (hard for me), and left him in his dirty, yogurt covered clothes and let him play with a broom handle in the backyard as Daddy was finishing up some work on our chicken coop on a gloomy evening. It’s documentary style 🙂 Or lifestyle, if I wanna act cool. It feels a little lazy to me, but at the same time….May was my absolute busiest month I’ve EVER had as a Lake Tahoe Wedding Photographer and Reno Portrait Photographer and I didn’t have time to set up an elaborate scene for photos of Cooper. I feel like a bad mommy/Reno child photographer, but I know that I’m being harsh with myself.
In May, I opened my own studio with my two fab studio mates and booked like a million portraits, plus a photographed a wedding and an elopement that I’d had on the calendar for a long time. It was work work work, and go go go. And ya know, it was kind of enjoyable just to tote my camera around (with my new Sigma 50mm 1.4 Art lens) and capture moments as they unfold in my own backyard.
Cooper is a wide-eyed, adventurous, curious, rough and tumbly baby bear. He has been obsessed with dinosaurs, but most recently is also very interested in airplanes and the moon. He learns a new word or sound weekly, or sometimes daily, and loves playing with items that are absolutely NOT toys. Like brooms. He loves to sweep the family room and patio, and drive his “na na,” which is his Little People Batmobile. We keep it in the backyard because he loves to zoom around on it and babble…or yell, “go!” He is the sweetest baby boy in all the lands and I love him to the “mooooooooooon” and back! I’ll end this post with a photo from bath time, where he plays with his “fish” and gets to sport cool bubble mohawks, courtesy of Daddy.
I still can’t believe my baby is a child. It all happened so fast and I wish I could slow it down and savor each tiny moment to the fullest extent. Being a Mom is the best thing I’ve ever experienced and Cooper is my greatest achievement.
Just love these! I can shoot beautiful people in beautiful locations all day, but my favorites will forever be just everyday life with my kids 🙂
