Rising Tide Society Seven Deadly Sins Sloth Styled Shoot | Reno Photographer
This sloth styled shoot was neither glamorous or beautiful, but it sure was fun. The Rising Tide Society asked it’s members to take part in a styled shoot extravaganza to showcase where we’re from, so our Reno group decided to use the Seven Deadly Sins as a theme. Among the themes of lust, envy, wrath, greed, gluttony or pride…I chose the sloth styled shoot. The sloth theme seemed conducive to creating something WAY out of the norm for me, and a chance to photograph something literally JUST for fun. And it was fun!!
Kick Ass Vendors of the Sloth Styled Shoot
Although the subject matter of a sloth styled shoot is not, let’s say, appealing, our team is a bunch of bad-ass women who I adore! We all planned this shoot over a few margaritas at Miguel’s at the Summit in Reno one night…and then we were all so busy that we literally didn’t pull this shoot together until almost the last minute (after the deadline was extended)…AND after a total concept change, no less. It was very sloth-like of us.
Sandy Rose of Petal to the Metal gathered all the crap (old food and random stuff) we sprinkled on poor Kayla, our beautiful model. Leigh Anne Page of Delicious Designs provided some ‘Merica / UNR inspired cookies and cupcakes, which – again – we sprinkled on poor Kayla. Stephanie Abeyta from Pin Ups by Paris Events was there to sprinkle…and pinned up Kayla’s cute ‘do…and also smudged her makeup like a wild woman. I was there to capture it all on camera, of course. I was also a sprinkler a time or two…I believe I crumbled potato chips into poor Kayla’s cleavage. And yes, our model is officially known (in regards to this shoot) as poor Kayla (sadface but also a maniacal laugh thrown in).
Our Sloth Styled Shoot
Although there were more photos than I’ve chosen to show on my blog (like the behind the scenes hilarity), here is what you came to see. The grotesque visual pleasure of the sloth styled shoot you’ve been waiting for:
- We put our poor model, Kayla, through the paces with this shoot. She was such a great sport, though.
Seriously, though…this shoot was a lot of fun and I love working with the women who pulled it together. And I hope you enjoyed the silliness of this production!

What a unique stylized shoot by an amazing Reno photographer! This is definitely a concept I have never seen before. I love your vision and eye to to capture something different and unique as a Reno photographer!
What a unique shoot to collaborate on for Rising Tide. I’m sure it was a fun shoot too since it wasn’t the normal wedding shoot. I sure love the Rising Tide Society and their whole message of Community over Competition!
This is so unique! I am definitely a sloth at heart so I can relate to this 🙂 It looks like it was a really creative styled session to plan, and all the vendors did such a great job. I love the little stuffed sloth that makes an appearance in the photos. Looking at this session, I can tell you are a fun and creative photographer with a sense of humour – it makes me want to work with you! Great job!
I LOVE this session for so many reasons! I’m also a member of RST & Community Over Competition 😉 All the elements really came together well and the session was executed amazingly well, between the lighting, props, poses, you nailed this! I totally agree with you that sloth pulled you out of your comfort zone & usual style, but these photos still have YOU stamped all over them!
Awesome styled shoot! I love how creative and unique the theme of this shoot is. Not many people would be able to think of something so unique! This styled shoot shows how you can bring the beauty out in people who are at their lowest of lows in life. Just beautiful.
The Rising Tide Society sounds like such a fun group of people! I like what you did with your sloth themed stylized shoot — but out of all the Seven Deadly Sins, sloth always sounded like the fun one. Lol! Great pictures from Reno!
Oh my gosh, what a cool and original sloth styled session! So creative! What a special opportunity for Rono to have such a unique photographer!
The Rising Tide Society really went out of the box with this sloth stylized session. I love how so many vendors came together on this collaboration and had a great time while doing it. Reno sure does have some unique talent!
