I’m so excited to share my favorites from this sweet foursome’s Caughlin Ranch family portraits! When Neda booked me for her family’s portraits, we immediately started talking about the ponds at Caughlin Ranch for our location. It’s one of my favorite spots – diverse and beautiful in every season! It also brings back wonderful memories for Neda of growing up in Reno. Win win!

Fall Caughlin Ranch Family Portraits in Reno

We played in the leaves at Caughlin Ranch and explored the area – trying to keep little Eli out of the creek, haha! It was a gorgeous day – perfect for a stroll around the ponds!

Noah is six, and Eli is two, so they sure made me work hard for good expressions! But hey, what kid wouldn’t rather play than pose for portraits? Still, we got some wonderful gems.

Before Tom & Tony’s big day, they held an awesome and casual Truckee wedding welcome reception at the Alder Creek Adventure Center. I noticed a couple of things about their reception right off the bat: one, the food looks AMAZING and two, it looks like it was seriously fun!

My lovely and talented team photographer, Talia, photographed this for me while I was on bed rest during the early part of my pregnancy with twins – but it was so much fun to see and edit her images from the night. It looks like she had fun, too! And thank you, Talia – for being incredible!

Alder Creek Adventure Center Truckee Wedding Welcome Reception

The Alder Creek Adventure Center looks like it was the perfect place to Tom and Tony’s Truckee wedding welcome reception. Cool outdoor space? Check. Delicious yummy food? Check. Space for lawn games? Check. Yep, looks like an epic place to hold a wedding welcome reception in the Truckee area!

Some of my favorite shots are of guests taking pictures and selfies with their phones…you know it was a good time when everyone wants to document it! Below are just a few fun moments and details from the evening!

This wildly eclectic Nevada Museum of Art wedding styled shoot was put together in collaboration with amazing Reno/Tahoe wedding and event vendors. It was by far one of the most interesting and diverse shoots I’ve ever been a party of! And you know why? Because we all set out just to have some creative freedom and FUN!

The Nevada Museum of Art was so generous to allow us into their beautiful space, where we set up scenes in the Altered Landscapes exhibit, the Seven Magic Mountains display, the Nightingale Sky Room and the rooftop terrace. It was a full day of setting up, tearing down, building a balloon dress fit for Burning Man (seriously!) and shooting until the sun went down behind the mountains that overlook our beloved city of Reno.

You’ll see below that we used a variety of colors, textures and other elements (ya know, like balloons) to blend in OR stand out among the exhibits we were shooting in. Seriously, you just have to go look at all the pictures…no amount of talking will do this shoot justice 🙂

Nevada Beach is a great location for portraits because it’s easy to get to, and has a long sandy shore to walk along – and of course – features an awesomely scenic Lake Tahoe view. Nevada Beach portraits are great any time of the year in Lake Tahoe, especially winter or spring, because the beach is pretty much deserted.

Nevada Beach, along with most Lake Tahoe beaches, is a very busy and popular spot in summer – even moreso on weekends. Nevada Beach, due to it’s proximity to the Casinos in South Lake, is probably one of the more crowded beaches. Definitely consider this when choosing your Lake Tahoe portrait location!

A fantastic selection for portraits in Lake Tahoe is Eldorado Beach at Lakeview Commons in South Lake Tahoe. Lakeview Commons has a pier, and lovely Lake Tahoe views, along with a short sandy beach. Therefore, your Lakeview Commons portraits can contain several beautiful backdrops!

The light at Lakeview commons is best right before sunset. It’s also an interesting location due to some of the surrounding architecture and man-made fences and structures. Not all Lake Tahoe portraits have to have Lake Tahoe in them, if you ask me!

It’s proximity to South Lake Tahoe hotels also makes this a fairly easy location to get to.
