Kate and John’s gorgeous boho chic Twenty Mile House wedding this Spring was seriously a dream come true for me as their photographer. When they told me that the wedding would have a natural, bohemian wanderlust vibe, I was immediately excited!
First of all, Kate and John are one of the most laid back, cool couples you could ever meet. Secondly, the Twenty Mile House is straight up AMAZING to shoot at. And lastly (well not lastly, but this list could go on and on), Kate & John handled the rain on their wedding day so gracefully – with happy hearts and backup leather jackets.
Perfect Timing
Weddings in Spring and early Summer can keep you on your toes when it comes to the weather. When rain was in the forecast, the Twenty Mile House popped up tents and umbrellas to keep everyone dry. Luckily, even with the off-and-on rain, it stayed pretty warm throughout the day and Kate didn’t even need to break out her backup pink leather jacket (as cute as it was). And even more luckily, the rain held off during their entire ceremony AND all of their portraits afterward. It returned once everyone was dancing safely under a tent…so I can thank my lucky photographer stars for that miracle!
Forest Ceremony & Meadow Portraits
Kate and John held their ceremony in the forest area. After family portraits, we walked around the beautiful property at Twenty Mile House for fun portraits with their wedding party. After the wedding party was happily dismissed to enjoy appetizers and drinks, Kate and John got to have some “alone time” for their romantic bridal portraits. And when it was time to join their guests for dinner and dancing – the laughter just didn’t stop!
I left the Twenty Mile House smiling ear to ear. It was an absolute pleasure to document Kate and John’s joyful and beautiful wedding. I want to thank them and their friends and families for welcoming my second photographer, Kevin, and I so warmly and making it such an incredible day.
Below is a snippet of my favorites from their day! Enjoy, and wish them a happy honeymoon in Kauai (returning to where they became engaged) – ow ow!
- I love the moodiness of the light inside the house that day. The light was so diffused with clouds – it’s not my usual style but I think it’s so fitting of the true atmosphere of the day.
- How stunningly gorgeous is Kate in her swoon gown holding her fabulous sunflower bouquet?
- You can’t keep a smile off John’s face!
- LOVE this wedding party! They played along with all my requests like champs.
- Cutie patootie flower girl!!
- One of my fave images from the whole day!
- Fun fact #1: I tried to help bustle the dress when more hands were needed. Fun fact #2: I do not know how to bustle dresses.
- I adore this spread of cupcakes and cake by Quincy Cooking Cottage. Legit the best cupcake I’ve ever had in my LIFE was up in there.
- Obviously they had fun, huh!?
