So every photographer has these days where they post certain things on their blog according to a theme. Like Marvelous Mondays, Thrilling Thursdays and whathaveyou. And those are…cool…and everything, but I wanted to come up with something that meant something for me.
Late last week as I was trying to fall asleep, I finally thought of one for myself. I thought it was SUCH a good idea, that I actually grabbed my phone and made a memo so I wouldn’t forget this EXCELLENT idea.
And then I forgot about all that. Until today.
When I looked at my memo just now, I see: Tip-sy Tuesday. Uh. Awesome, Jentry. I totally want all my clients to think I’m an alcoholic. This is why when you get up in the morning and you’re like “oh man, I should have written down that formula I came up with for building jet packs that run on fish oil” – it’s really okay. You didn’t have to write anything down. Because your idea is ridiculous. Ideas you have when you’re awake are probably okay – write THOSE ones down.
The point of Tip-sy Tuesday was to share tips to clients on making the best of your portrait sessions with me. I’ll still do that – but I have to come up with a better name! I missed this Tuesday, but since I got my new “toys” today, I wanted to talk about them.
I’ve been coveting these items for a while – the Canon 5D Mark II (I know I’m late to the party, but I wanted it anyway), the 70-200L and 24-70L. I debated making this purchase for quite a while. If you know me, you know it’s VERY difficult for me to spend a large chunk of money at one time…..especially on things that are FUN – but there’s the dilemma – photography is a job AND a joy to me. AND – I believe that I am a wise investment. Yes, me. And these are tools that will help me. Really expensive tools. And it will be fuuuuuuuuuun to use them. In the words of Charlie Sheen – duh, winning!
The following shots are taken with my Canon 50D and 28-135mm (which is now for sale). I’ve played with my new lenses a little bit – but today it snowed (Merry Springmas from Reno, by the way) and it was all dark and junk after work, so I just took a photo of my dog and my Shootsac (for another blog post) and called it a day. I’ll REALLY test this whole set up in Vegas, March 26 – 28. I’m doing some very exciting boudoir shoots in the Planet Hollywood suites.
I thought I would do a dance and sing a song when these arrived today, but sometimes things that should make me EXTREMELY happy just don’t. Don’t get me wrong – I’m excited to have these…but something is just missing. Story of my life right now.
Coming up next – Shootsac review + Kissbooks rewiew. Maybe I should do Review Wednesdays? Hmmm.
